MoECST Signs Memorandum of Understanding with BK Sports Group

This morning, Hon. Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, signed a memorandum of understanding with Mr Berisford Codd Jr., Manager of BK Sports Group, to promote tertiary-level education opportunities for Belizean student athletes.

BK Sports Group is a dynamic development organisation in Belize, established in 2018 by visionary brothers Berisford and Bryton Codd. With a strong commitment to empowering Belizean student athletes, BK Sports connects them with opportunities for tertiary level education through their chosen sporting discipline. Their remarkable achievements have positively transformed the lives of these aspiring athletes and fostering the growth of sports in Belize.

Through the provisions made in the MOU, the MoECST has committed to financially supporting the transition of identified Belizean student athletes to tertiary institutions, where resources permit, and working with BK Sports Group to expand the pool of student athletes eligible for consideration of tertiary-level scholarships and building national capacity in support services for these students.

The MoECST expects that this MOU will enhance education opportunities through sports, contribute to the development of high-performance athletes in Belize and contribute to the continuous efforts of our government to advance social transformation for our young people.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Dr Yvonne Palma, Director of the Tertiary Education Unit, and Bryton Codd and Abigail Castellanos of BK Sports Group.
