When will classes resume for the 2021-2022 academic year?

As outlined in the School Calendar for government and grant-aided schools, classes will commence on Monday, August 23 for secondary schools and Monday, August 30 for pre-primary and primary schools. Given the advice from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, classes at pre-primary, primary , secondary and tertiary levels will resume via distance mode. Face-to-face instruction will begin when it is deemed safe to transition into hybrid learning. Schools are reminded to ensure that proper Learning Continuity Plans are in place to facilitate distance learning.

When face-to-face instructions resume, will students need to wear uniforms to school?

NO.

Students will be allowed to attend face-to-face classes even if they do not have the required school uniform and other schools accessories

Will teachers and other school staff need to show proof of vaccination when classes resume?

YES.

Any faculty or staff member who is unvaccinated will need to provide a negative Covid-19 test result, every two (2) weeks, to their respective Managing Authority.

Will faculty and staff members who are unvaccinated have to pay for their Covid-19 tests?

YES.

Covid tests are provided free of charge for persons who are exhibiting Covid symptoms and persons who have had close contact with positive Covid cases, but the regular testing of unvaccinated persons will bear a cost to them.

Will unvaccinated faculty and staff be able to request time off to do their Covid-19 tests every two weeks?

NO.

These tests can be done at multiple health care facilities across the country daily, even on Saturdays and Sundays at some locations, and rapid tests results are delivered within half an hour. MoHW and MoECST will collaborate to ensure that faculty and staff have access to testing facilities in each district.
