Science and Education Technology Unit

Purpose

The Science and Education Technology Unit operates to manage the implementation of science and education technology initiatives within the MoECST. The primary mission of the Unit is to use the power of science and modern technology to transform the core functions and services of the education system and to strengthen engagement with stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the implementation of the MoECST Internet for Schools Programme to provide every student and teacher in all government and government-aided schools with full access to high speed internet services.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the MoECST Digital Resources Programme to provide Standard 4 to 4th Form students and teachers in all government and government-aided schools with access to a laptop computer.
  • Develop and manage a National School Portal to enable and facilitate remote learning.
  • Develop and manage a platform and portal for the Teacher Learning Institute, which allows for registration and delivery of professional development courses.
  • Collaborate with the STEAM Lab School to promote innovation in teaching and learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
  • Develop technology solutions for simplifying the processes and procedures for the delivery of services and for communication and collaboration between the MoECST and its stakeholders.
