Teacher Learning Institute (TLI)

What is the Teacher Learning Institute?

The Teacher Learning Institute is a dynamic education portal designed to provide Belizean educators with opportunities to explore new teaching and learning methodologies based on emerging research, trends, and best practices in education. The TLI will promote excellence in teaching and educational leadership through structured, comprehensive, year-round professional development experiences, informed by the needs assessment reports from members of the school community.

These virtual experiences may be implemented using both synchronous and asynchronous means. In this way, the TLI endeavors to accomplish the following:

  • make available professional development sessions on relevant educational topics and issues to members of the school community;
  • assist teachers and school leaders to accrue professional development hours in accordance with teacher licensing regulations;
  • ensure that teacher education and development remains relevant, accessible, and systematic for teachers and school leaders at all levels;
  • facilitate linkages and connections to local, regional and international professional development partners.
